Rainbow Services
Together, we'll find a way to provide hope and support across all LGBTIQA+ communities.
Overview
Our Rainbow Counselling Service offers people of gender or sexual orientation diversity inclusive, affirming support and counselling tailored to the unique needs being a part of these communities brings.
Rainbow Counselling, Education and Support can offer support with:
- Questioning, exploring, or concealing your authentic gender and/or sexual orientation
- Inviting in or disclosing (“coming out”) as LGBTIQA+
- Diverse partners and relationship concerns
- Minority stress and internalised negativity or shame towards a LGBTIQA+ identity
- Navigating a heteronormative and cisnormative society
- Family of origin relationships
- Domestic and family violence or separation.
Who is this service for?
The Rainbow Counselling Service supports people of diverse bodies, genders and sexualities, including lesbian, gay, bi, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, including our First Nations Rainbow people, or those questioning their gender identity or sexual orientation. The service also welcomes family and allies of LGBTIQA+ communities.
(an excerpt from a card left for our practitioner)
I can’t believe how lucky I am that our paths crossed – I’m grateful every day. You’ve had such a profound impact on my life in nothing but positive ways.
You’ve helped me understand the links between my past and my present, and in doing so you’ve enabled me to start to break free from those lingering tentacles of past trauma.
You’ve been gently chipping away at my self-imposed walls. There are times when those negative thoughts are shouting in my head, and I think back to the things you’ve said to me and discussions we’ve had, and I can start to see light shine through the newly formed cracks in those walls.
