What is the Senior Relationship Mediation Service?

Our free Senior Relationship Mediation Service (SRMS) is an innovative, elder-focused service which empowers older persons to plan for the future and make important decisions.

The SRMS offers a combination of family mediation, family therapy and individual support which places the interests, rights and personal safety of older persons at the centre.

The SRMS also seeks to raise community awareness of elder abuse, and build relationships with the community to improve older persons’ access to services.

Services offered:

  • Family Mediation / Family Meetings
  • Case Management and Referral
  • Community Education
  • Counselling
  • Coaching
Who does the Senior Relationship Mediation Service work with?

The SRMS works with people over 65 years (or 50 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons) who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, elder abuse.

The SRMS can also work with family members and others who are concerned about an older person. We can provide information, support, and referrals to other services that can help.

In all cases, our focus is on providing services with the older person’s consent, inclusion and, where possible, participation.

How can I access this service?

The SRMS is based at RAQ’s office in the Morayfield Integrated Health Hub. If Morayfield is not accessible for you, you can talk to us about meeting you somewhere else.

We also work from the Strathpine Family Relationship Centre.
