Separation Services
Parenting Orders Program (POP)
Together, we'll find a way to guide children and families through separation.
Overview
The Parenting Orders Program (POP) supports separated parents to prioritise the best interests of their children, reduce conflict, move through Family Court proceedings, and improve co-parenting.
Who is this service for?
The Parenting Orders Program (POP) is for:
- Separated parents
- Separating parents involved in Family Court proceedings
- Parents who have been court-ordered to attend a post-separation parenting program
- Other family members impacted by separation (such as a grandparent).
POP also offers services for children affected by separation.
I recently completed the Parenting Orders Program. I found the course very relevant to my needs and the delivery of the course extremely well–facilitated. I have already recommended this course to a number of my friends who I feel could benefit, and will continue to do so.

What do I need to know about the Parenting Orders Program?
How can the Parenting Orders Program help?
POP can help separating/separated parents:
- Improve their communication
- Prioritise their children’s needs
- Avoid or reduce conflict regarding co-parenting
- Help children find ways to cope with parental conflict
- Better understand their role in co-parenting arrangements
- Support, care for, and guide their children as they adapt to the separation
- Establish a healthy co-parenting relationship that prioritises the children’s care, welfare, and development.
The program recognises children’s rights to be parented by both of their parents and how being cared for by both parents benefits children, if it is safe to do so.
What happens in the Parenting Order Program?
When you start POP, you will have an intake and assessment interview to determine your suitability for the program and to understand your responsibilities if you agree to participate.
POP will work with you to identify the goals you want to achieve for your children throughout your separation. For example, your goals may include helping your children transition into co-parenting.
I’ve been court-ordered to attend a parenting program. Does this count?
Yes. If you’ve been court-ordered to attend a parenting program, POP meets the requirements.
Can I join this program voluntarily?
Yes, any separated parents or families can join POP. You do not have to be ordered by the Courts, or be involved Family Court proceedings to join.
